What’s So Speical About The Outdoors? – Newcastle

This exciting new opportunity combines a professional development workshop with an observation visit at a quality early education & care service where participants will have the opportunity to see outdoor play in action.

We begin the day with a workshop, discussing the importance of outdoor play in our early childhood environments, with a particular focus on natural environments, risk and the inclusion of loose parts. We will unpack theories and thinking and reflect on our own understandings and experience.

We will then visit Woodrising Natural Learning Centre and experience their approach to outdoor play and maybe even head out into their wild bush space with the children (be sure to wear suitable shoes and clothing!!)

After the service visit, we will return to the training room to discuss our observations and reflect on the way in which understandings on outdoor play are woven into practice.
