THIS IS A SET OF 8 POSTERS
We are delighted to release a new range of posters, exploring the benefits of Risky Play, in alignment with Dr Ellen Sandseters Categories of Risky Play.
Why did we create these posters?
We know Risky Play can be worriesome. At times families may question the value in such play in our early childhood settings. As educators, we understand that risky play offers children a wide range of developmental opportunities, yet may need support in advocating for its benefits.
We created these posters to share the benefits of these types of play with families, to put language around it. We also hope that educators will find them beneficial, using them to support their documentation of play.
This set includes 8 Categories of Risky Play:
- Rough and Tumble Play
- Play with Dangerous Elements
- Play with Dangerous Tools
- Vicarious Play
- Play at Great Heights
- Play at High Speed
- Play with Impact
- Play where children feel like they can disappear
Each poster contains three key benefits for the risky play type, with a paragraph on each and engaging colour photographs.
What can you do with them
Display the posters in your entry, or in a room or near the front door. You could also display them in your staff room for your team to use when programming and documenting learning.
